Corrina Ryan Nampitjinpa
Corinna Ryan Nampijinpa was born in 1980 in Alice Springs, before moving back to her traditional lands of Nyrippi and Yuendumu after completing school at the Catholic High School in Alice springs. She married her husband Quentin Japangardi Granites at this time and they have one son, who was born in the early 2000’s.
Corrina and he husband spent many years watching Quentins mother, Alma Nungurrayi Granites as she worked on her art.
Corrina currently resides back in alice Springs, however she divides her time between her home there and her traditional home in the Warlpiri lands. The country around Nyrippi and Yuendumu is the southern part of the Tanami Desert and the water dreaming that Corrina paints plays a big part in the survival of the owners of these lands. Her work is fast being hailed as one of the most stunning and intricate of artworks to have come out of the region in the last decade.
