Sabrina Granites Napangardi, born in 1972 in the remote Aboriginal community of Yuendumu, Northern Territory, is a talented artist with deep roots in her cultural heritage. She is the daughter of the late Alma Nungarrayi Granites and the granddaughter of the renowned Paddy Japaljarri Sims and Bessie Nakamarra Sims, two founding figures of the Warlukurlangu Artists Aboriginal Corporation. This Aboriginal-owned and governed art centre, located 290 kilometers northwest of Alice Springs, is one of the oldest continuously operating art centres in the Central Desert, dedicated to preserving and promoting Indigenous art.
Having attended the local school in Yuendumu, Sabrina has continued the artistic legacy of her family. She is married and is raising two daughters, instilling in them the rich cultural traditions and artistic skills that have been passed down through generations. Her connection to her ancestry and the land is evident in her work, which is deeply influenced by the stories and teachings of her elders.
