Bernadine is married to Stephen Martin Pitjara, who is from the North East of Alice Springs in the Anmetyarre/Alyawarr country, known collectively as Utopia. They divide their time between Alice Springs, Utopia, Santa Teresa and Adelaide.
Ceremonies are held here to give thanks for the abundance of bush foods and medicine, as well as ensuring the strong growth of these in the next season.
