Kalipinya (also known as Kalimpinpa) is a very large, important rockhole which is found near Kintore, to the far west of Alice Springs. The rockhole is very deep and part of it goes under the ground. because of this, water can usually be found here all of the time. This is what makes Kalipinya a very important site.
The rockhole is surrounded by a large area of clay pan. Scattered around the clay pan, there are large deposits of iron ore rich stones and rocks. THis iron ore can attract lightening during very large storms.
