Clarise Tunkin is a young Pitjantjatjara woman from Kanpi in South Australia’s APY Lands. She has grown up surrounded by artistic family members such as her mother, Teresa Baker and Aunty Patricia Tunkin. Kay Baker Tunkin is her Grandmother and her Great Grandfather was Jimmy Baker (1915 – 2010) and her family are recognised as one of the most highly regarded artistic families. She has been nominated for the Telstra National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Art Awards (NATSIAA) twice (2015 and 2016) and her works are a modern contemporary depiction of the Minma Marlilu (Pitjantjatjara ancestral creation figure) story that has been handed down to her by her  family and taught to her since she was a teenager. She is extremely proud of her heritage and continues to spend time on her traditional lands where she lives with her partner and children.
