In her Travelling Women and Kalimpinpa artworks, Nellie depicts the women travelling across the country in her paintings with traditional iconography. Concentric circles are used to represent sacred women’s sites while linear patterns emerging from these circles represent the women travelling from sacred site to sacred site. The women teach the children how to survive in the bushland of her home country by collecting bush food, medicines and where to find water soakage. These traditions are alive and well today and Nellie is extremely proud of her culture and heritage.
